Media Development –
A Data Problem

Media development is intrinsically hard. A typical media formulation contains 60+ interacting ingredients. Taking only 3 concentration levels, this creates more possible combinations than grains of sand on Earth. Conventional approaches lack the infrastructure to capture performance data at this scale, forcing researchers to test only a tiny fraction of possible formulations. Without systematic data generation and analysis, most formulations remain massively under-optimized making media an untapped potential.

The MediOP™ Solution

Our MediOP™ platform combines data, models, and design iteratively by integrating high-throughput robotic automation, AI, and deep cell biology expertise to generate rich performance data at scale. Leveraging our platform, we have built the first data-driven design process for cell culture media. Unlike conventional approaches, we can generate rich performance data at scale. Our machine learning models extract insights from thousands of parallel experiments, while machine learning algorithms optimize formulations across multiple objectives with unprecendented speed and efficiency.

Our MediOP™ Approach

Cell & Ingredient Expertise

We combine scientific expertise with AI models to extract deep insights into cell growth and function creating a blueprint for the most effective solution.

AI-enabled Formulation Decisions

Our machine learning algorithms analyze biological data to propose the best formulations. Our AI models identify combinations that make improvements across specified factors.

High-throughput Robotic Automation

Robotics and automation physically test thousands of formulations on chosen cell lines in parallel, generating unbiased biological performance data at scale. We capture live measurements of the designated optimization criteria, building structured datasets essential for AI-driven optimization.

Our Data Advantage

Every formulation we develop makes MediOP™ more powerful. We own the world's largest structured dataset on media performance. This continuously expanding dataset enables transfer learning: our models generalize performance patterns across cell lines and applications, delivering strong predictions even for cells we haven't previously optimized.
